Bio
Dr. Shimy Apoorva is a board-certified and fellowship-trained Ophthalmologist specializing in the management of ocular inflammatory diseases, the diagnosis and treatment of inflammatory and infectious eye conditions including scleritis, ocular cicatricial pemphigoid, and uveitis. She also manages patients with glaucoma, cataracts, keratitis, diabetic retinopathy, AMD and dry eyes. Dr. Apoorva earned a doctorate of osteopathic medicine in 2017 from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Suwanee Georgia. Upon completing her medicine training Dr. Apoorva completed her TRI and ophthalmology residency from St. John’s Episcopal Hospital Far Rockaway, NY. After residency Dr. Apoorva pursued a one year fellowship in Ocular Immunology and Uveitis with Dr. Stephen C. Foster at MERSI, Waltham, MA. Dr. Apoorva is a member of American academy of Ophthalmology, American Uveitis Society, and American Osteopathic Association. In her spare time Dr. Apoorva enjoys walking, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.
