The Dr. Frank Verdone Memorial Symposium For Optometrists by SightMD
SightMD hosted its 20th installment of the Dr. Frank Verdone Memorial Continuing Education Program on Sunday, February 28, 2021. This bi-annual event is held honor of our dear friend and colleague Dr. Frank Verdone who lost his battle with ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) in 2018. Every year, ophthalmologists at SightMD lecture on a variety of topics to educate our optometry colleagues and provide continuing education credits.
This Continuing Education Symposium featured lectures by some of our newest doctors. In light of the current state of the world, each of our panel discussions was focused around the challenges we face as a community, and throughout the eye care industry during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
SightMD is a rapidly-growing integrated ophthalmic provider group, offering patients access to over 80 ophthalmic surgeons and specialists through the convenience of 40+ locations across Suffolk and Nassau County, New York City, and Westchester County. Our track record of providing clinically-excellent care spans over 50 years, with services including laser cataract surgery and lens implantation, glaucoma management, retinal disorder treatment, corneal services, neuro-ophthalmology, LASIK laser vision correction, oculoplastic surgery, pediatric ophthalmology, and audiology. SightMD has been voted Best of Long Island since 2014, is the official LASIK sponsor for the New York Mets, and has more Castle Connolly Top Doctors than any practice in New York.
SightMD’s Continuing Education Program is a great opportunity for us to help educate our esteemed optometrist colleagues who are at the forefront of primary eye care. We commemorate Dr. Frank Verdone with this symposium and hope that one day we will fine a cure for this horrible disease.
