SightMD is excited to announce that its doctors have earned a few spots on Newsweek’s prestigious list of America’s Best Ophthalmologists 2023. Dr. Jeffrey Martin, Dr. James Gordon and Dr. John Mauro have all been included on this year’s list. With the publication of Newsweek’s America’s Best Ophthalmologists 2023, our doctors were honored to rank among the 175 best professionals in their field, nationwide. This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider. The awards list was announced on June 14th, 2023 and can currently be viewed on the Newsweek website.

Data collected in the Newsweek rankings came from other eye care professionals who were surveyed directly. Respondents included ophthalmologists, optometrists, clinic managers, and other eye care professionals, all of whom were asked to weigh in on the most respected and accomplished optometrists and ophthalmologists in their area. After surveying more than 10,000 professionals from the nation’s eye care field, the results are in for this year’s top 175 ophthalmologists.

James R. Gordon, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and oculofacial surgeon with over 20 years of experience. He has particular expertise in the handling of challenging and complex cases. Dr. Gordon has published numerous papers and given extensive lectures on ocular disease and eyelids as well as facial cosmetic procedures which include innovative techniques for fillers and injectables. Dr. James Gordon was ranked 3rd in New York and 22nd in the nation.

More than 5,500 health care professionals participated in the national survey—implemented by Statista—which asked them to recommend the best ophthalmologist in their state and in the US. Additionally, participants were asked to rank certain specifics that influence the quality of eye doctors, which include the sophistication of technical equipment and continuity of care as well as overall quality of care. The recommendations and quality score were analyzed to determine the 2022 list of “America’s Best Ophthalmologists.”
