Book a ConsultationWhat is EVO Visian ICL?
EVO Visian ICL, also called an Implantable Collamer® Lens, is a refractive implant to correct common vision issues like myopia (nearsightedness) with or without astigmatism. Unlike some other vision correction options, the EVO Visian ICL is an additive technology that corrects vision without the removal of any corneal tissue. The EVO Visian ICL is meant to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses and contacts and unlike most permanent refractive solutions, EVO Visian ICL is removable by your doctor, for added peace of mind.
Am I a Candidate for the EVO Visian ICL™ or EVO Toric ICL?
Ideal candidates for the EVO Visian ICL™ are generally those who are between the ages of 21 and 45 and have mild to severe nearsightedness. The EVO Toric ICL may be recommended for those with astigmatism. Additionally, candidates for EVO Visian ICL™ and EVO Toric ICL should have maintained the same vision prescription for at least a year and cannot have undergone any previous ophthalmic surgeries. Patients should not be pregnant, and they should have relatively healthy eyes with no signs of glaucoma, iritis, diabetic retinopathy, or other ocular conditions.
What to Expect Before Your EVO Visian ICL Procedure
First, you will have a consultation appointment at our Rockville Centre office where we will check your vision and eye health, discuss your options, and answer any questions you have. If you choose to schedule your EVO Visian ICL procedure, we’ll give you detailed pre-procedure information.
What to Expect During the Evo Visian ICL Procedure
EVO Visian ICL is made of biocompatible Collamer material that works in harmony with your eye. Your eye doctor will create a small opening in your cornea that will be used to insert and position the EVO Visian ICL. For most patients, the procedure is virtually painless with numbing drops and it typically takes less than 20 – 30 minutes. Patients typically experience improved vision right away and a quick recovery time.
What to Expect After Your EVO Visian ICL Procedure
You will need to arrange for someone to take you home after your procedure. You can expect an immediate improvement in vision. You will be given eye drops and protective eyewear to use during recovery. We will schedule a follow-up appointment for the day after surgery.
